This week on Every Rom Com we’ll have you at hello as we break down the 1996 Cameron Crowe film, “Jerry Maguire.” We’ll show you the money the film made, share behind the scenes tidbits, and perhaps make you rethink whether one of the film’s most famous romantic scenes really completes you. We’ll also welcome our first ever man on the podcast - artist, author and adventurer Ryan Estrada - who’s on a quest to figure out why he loves this movie, despite not really caring for Tom Cruise, Cameron Crowe films, or football. All this and more on our 25th episode!
0:00-11:40 Introducing Guest Host, Ryan Estrada
Ryan Estrada is an author, artist, and adventurer, who has done so many things that in this intro, he will only mention those things related to rom-coms. He is the co-author of the award-winning, best-selling graphic novel Banned Book Club, and is currently working on a sequel for Penguin Books that he pitched as “Love Actually” meets “Persepolis.” He worked with DC Comics on The Kind, a rom-com graphic novel about a werewolf trying to date between two full moons. He’s told his own non-fiction story Self Offload: A RomCom Gone Wrong on many shows and stages, about the time he got off an airplane for love and accidentally shut down an airport and was locked up as a potential terrorist. All of this and more can be found at ryanestrada.com. He also did voiceover work on one of the worst Bollywood movies ever made, Aap ka Suroor: the Moviee: the Real Luv Story.
